Many surgical and hospital teams have heard of ERAS® pathways, but fewer have seen what implementation actually looks like once it moves off the page and into daily practice: who owns which step, how a multidisciplinary team coordinates around it, and what changes for patients and staff along the way.
This session is a direct conversation with a team that has been through that process. You will hear from the ERAS® multidisciplinary team at Gleneagles Hospital Johor, Malaysia, who built and now run their ERAS® program across Total Knee Arthroplasty, Colorectal, and Gynaecology pathways, including their work toward same-day discharge for selected knee replacement patients.

Meet the speakers
Vera Lim, Senior Consultant Anaesthesiologist and ERAS® Trainer, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore
Dr. Vera Lim is a Senior Consultant Anaesthesiologist at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), Singapore. She is an ERAS® trainer for the Asia-Pacific region, supporting hospitals across the region in developing and embedding ERAS® pathways into everyday clinical practice.
Dr. Shahridan Bin Mohd Fathil, Consultant Anesthesiologist, Gleneagles Hospital Johor, Iskandar Puteri, Malaysia
Dr. Shahridan obtained his MBBS from the University of Malaya in 1996 and trained in anaesthesia across Malaysia, Ireland, and England, completing a Regional Anaesthesia Fellowship at Royal Perth Hospital, Australia. He has held consultant roles at Alexandra Hospital and Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, and was a clinical senior lecturer at the National University of Singapore before joining Gleneagles Hospital Johor. His clinical interests include ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia and point-of-care ultrasound. He has supported humanitarian relief missions in Indonesia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iraq, Bangladesh, and Gaza. Dr. Shahridan leads the ERAS® Implementation program for Total Knee Arthroplasty, Colorectal, and Gynaecology at Gleneagles Hospital Johor.
Ernizah Hamzah, ERAS® Coordinator, Nurse, Gleneagles Hospital Johor, Malaysia
Ernizah has served as ERAS® Coordinator at Gleneagles Hospital Johor since March 2025, bringing multinational clinical experience across geriatric and hip fracture care in Singapore, respiratory care in Saudi Arabia, and outpatient services in Malaysia. She leads the day-to-day coordination of the ERAS® program, with a focus on perioperative care coordination, multidisciplinary pathway development, and quality improvement.
Dr. Loi Kai Weng, Consultant Orthopaedic, Trauma, Joint Reconstruction and Robotic Knee Surgeon, Gleneagles Hospital Johor, Malaysia
Dr. Loi obtained his MD from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2008 and his Master of Orthopaedic Surgery from the University of Malaya in 2017, followed by fellowships in Joint Reconstruction and Arthroplasty in Taiwan and Sports Medicine in Thailand. A certified robotic knee surgeon, he trains surgeons across the Asia-Pacific region in robotic-assisted knee arthroplasty as a faculty member for Smith+Nephew. A strong advocate for ERAS®, Dr. Loi has integrated ERAS® principles into his routine practice and led the implementation of true day-care total knee replacement surgery for selected patients in Johor.
